Alexa Kelemen's Gallery

Alexa Kelemen was born in Romania and helped her parents with their farm from early on. She grew to appreciate the seasonal cycle of the earth and the drastic color changes that come with the cycle. She began painting at the age of six and her talent flourished quickly.

She began her formal art education at the Art Institute of Constanta with a concentration in realistic landscape and abstract figural painting and graduated with highest honors in 1965. She proceeded to give landscape and still life art a fresh modernist eye. Her pieces are all oil on paper and have her signature mellifluous use of color with eerie shading and blurring.

With her unique talent, Alexa quickly built her reputation throughout Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. In 1986, she moved to the United States with her husband and son and has exhibited primarily in Atlanta and New York. Her work has been collected by Olympic gymnasts Daniella Silivlas and Nadia Comanici. River’s End Gallery is pleased to represent her in the southeast Wisconsin art scene.
