| Andrea de Kerpely-Zak is a
Hungarian born artist who studied with Janos Nagy of Hungary and Arthur
Lismer of Canada. Her family fled Hungary in 1956 during the Hungarian
Revolution against Russian control, evading border guards and fleeing to
Canada and then the US. She began creating her boldly hued wildflowers in
watercolors and acrylics after a much later trip to Hungary where she picked
some wildflowers while waiting to be cleared at the border. To her they are
a symbol of being free. Andrea presently
resides in Arizona and judges art shows there. Her work is in private and
corporate collections worldwide including the Vatican in Rome. Her work has
been published in Arizona Highways, Southwest Art, The Wedding Chronicle,
Scottsdale Magazine (Artist of the Month), Art Book, New West, Phoenix
Magazine, Best of Scottsdale and Phoenix Home Garden. |
