Meet the
Artist
______________
Dot Birner
Dot Birner has a theatre background from which she draws for her painting
composition and arrangement of subject. She has been a producer and director for
a children’s theatre group as well as set designer and costumer for 35 years.
She has also been a college admissions counselor, ESL teacher and a community
volunteer.
She began painting with watercolors recently as a natural progression from
the performing arts to the visual. She works for texture as well as movement in
her pieces. You’ll find charming florals and festive holiday miniatures in her
body of work. The joy and beauty of the ordinary fascinate her the most.
She has exhibited at the Racine Wustum Art Museum, the Hidden River Festival
in Brookfield, WI, and the Waukesha WRAP show for which she won a state WRAP
award. Her work is found in private collections, and of course, River’s End
Gallery. She has lived in southeastern Wisconsin her whole life and spends
summers in Door County with her husband, usually offshore on their boat.
