Historic Downtown Waukesha is the setting for River's End Gallery. A few years
before we purchased the gallery in July 2006, certain forces come into play that
shaped the city into an arts community with more than 20 galleries.
The
entire complexion of the community has changed from the Waukesha you used to
know. The one-way roads are almost all gone and the gazebo was removed from the
center of the Historic Downtown to allow traffic to flow freely. More and more
businesses have moved into the area with many owned by women. The final
improvement is the river walk area, a park lining the Fox River, which runs
through the city.
The
front of River’s End Gallery is located on West Main Street and the back faces
the river walk. The river views from the rear windows of the 1,800 square foot
gallery inspired the artists that paint in the gallery. Parking is convenient
with free street parking and additional parking in the Clinton Street lot behind
the gallery.
Waukesha hosts five Art Crawls spread throughout the year and live music on the
streets on Friday nights throughout the summer. The city is a vibrant walking
city that caters to the art community.
