Linanne Giersch's Gallery

I’ve always loved to draw and paint. I drew mice all over my mom’s white suitcase when I was three and later would spend summers at my grandparent’s Minnesota farm painting and drawing my Grandpa’s prize winning (County Fair) begonias.

I attended MIAD, where I received a BFA in illustration, then I did what many people do with their degree - I went to work in a completely different field in our family business. The sudden deaths of three family members within a year made me rethink life.

I started painting again as a way to heal. Back in art school, I had attended a show called, “Breaking the Plane,” which involved using different techniques to make the two dimensional appear three dimensional. I was fascinated by the challenge of making elements appear to be coming off the page and began to explore how to add it to my work.

I love color, and I love to garden. I use color, line and shadow to transform nature--to reach out to the viewer and immerse him or her in the heart of nature to provide a place of calm, an oasis, a chance to slow down in our busy world and really look.

I live in Brookfield, WI, with my husband of 20 years, our two kids and our two Australian Shepherds.
