Nancy is best known for
the glass she creates that has depth with a sense of unexpected mystery. Nancy
cuts and grinds this glass with lapidary equipment in her studio in the redwoods
on the Russian River in California.
Design is key in Nancy's
work. Nancy uses pearls, glass, or gemstones as a focal point in her work, to
enhance the design of the jewelry. When creating her originals, Nancy uses using
the traditional metal techniques of forging, fabrication, foldforming, etching,
fusing, reticulation, and granulation. The individual works are cast in
sterling silver or bronze.
Nancy is a systems
engineer, glass artist, marketing professional and high school mathematics
teacher ... right brain, left brain. Some might suggest that these roles are
contradictory. Not so. Nancy strikes a delicate balance between the technical
and the magical, the practical and the joyful, the business and the art. All the
skills honed in her former careers - 20 years with IBM and 10 years before that
as a mathematics teacher - come together in her creative expression.
