My artist statement
I create my art not out of inspiration or the
desire to express myself: I create it out of the necessity to communicate
and feel attached to the world. Because of a form of Autism, I so often feel
detached. Art has been more than a recreation and financial medium for me. I
use it to communicate. Ever since I was a child I learned that the world I
see and experience has been quite different than others, and only through
creating images with different media, sculpting and taking photos, can I
even start to express and explain the world and how I experience it.
My muse lies mostly in the very world around me, nature, music, movies, TV,
my friends, books, and gaming. They are what inspire me the most, giving me
thoughts, patterns, visions, and rhythms to continue into my own work,
literally acting as a wellspring for my own creativity. Many times I look
around to find myself in this enchanted and awestruck world that surrounds
me, unveiling its beauty and splendor at every turn. However, when I try to
share my findings with others they seem to be lost, unable to see and
experience the world as I do. Therefore, I turn to art to communicate that
which I experience and see.
The world is a fantastic and enchanted place for me with surprises at each
turn and I wish to express that to my public so they might be able to gain
some of the joy and wonder that I feel.
